Songtaba, a Nongovermental Organization in Tamale has commissioned and handed over a shea processing center for women groups in Kumbuuyili a community in the Sagnerigu Municipal in the Northern Region
The Center which was constructed with the support of Godrej, a group of businessmen from America, was named Kpangmanga Shea Butter Processing Center and it is to help the women process quality shea butter for local and international consumption.
Speaking at an event organized to handover the facility to the community on Thursday October 12, 2023, Executive Director for Songtaba, Hajia Lamnatu Adam, thanked her partners Godrej, for the support in getting the the center in place.
She also expressed gratitude to the chiefs and people of the community for their role during the construction of the facility.
“This facility as we are witnessing today was made possible through the partnership between the Songtaba and Godrej, our friends in America” she stated.

“I cannot also forget the contributions of the community, you have done so well” she added.
She urged the women to take the facility which contains shea butter processing machines such as Crushers Millers, Rosters, and other machines as their own to enable it last longer.
She also appealed to stakeholders to support the facility and the women to able to sustain it.
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Sagnerigu Mr. Mohammed Yakubu Ahmed, in his remarks, applauded the partners for the move.
He also pledged the support of government and the Sagnerigu Municipal Assembly, to the development of women in general and the Center.
Assemblywoman for the Malshegu Electoral Area, Mrs. Bibiana Yakubu, in her welcome remarks, also advised the women to take good care of the facility
She also urged them to do away with their differences and work together so that they could reap the full benefits.
Let’s do away with our differences and work together” she said.
She also called on them to take good care of their wards so that they would grow up to become responsible citizens.
On behalf of the women, the Community Women’s Leader, Salimu Abdulai, expressed their gratitude to Songtaba and its partners for their support. She also pedged the commitment of the women to the sustainability of the facility and appealed for water and other social amenities for the community.
The program was attended by Chiefs and people of the community. It was also honored by the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Sagnerigu Hon. Mohamed Yakubu Ahmed, the Northern Regional Director of the Department of Gender Mrs. Bushira Alhassan and other CSOs such as Urbanet, SEND-Ghana, Shea Network Ghana, and others.
