Who We Are
A Platform Built for Every Shea Actor
SNG serves as the coordinating platform for collective representation and advancement of all actors of the Shea value chain in Ghana.
Shea Network Ghana (SNG) was collectively formed at the Annual Multi-Stakeholder Shea Forum and championed by the conscious efforts of industry stakeholders in 2009. Incorporated in 2010 as a Company Limited by Guarantee, SNG has grown into Ghana’s most visible and trusted shea industry organisation.
SNG works as a coordinating platform for collective representation and advancement of the ideals of all actors along the shea value chain. With a resolute focus on women’s inclusion and economic empowerment, SNG champions policy reform, market access, and capacity building across Ghana’s shea communities.
The organisation has witnessed three board compositions since inception and remains the primary entry and exit point for stakeholders, partners, and data seekers in Ghana’s shea sector. SNG’s advocacy efforts led directly to the formation of the Global Shea Alliance and the landmark shift of shea regulation from COCOBOD to the Tree Crop Development Authority.
SNG was founded with support from Oxfam, SNV, Jakssally Youth Group, ISODEC, and SEND Ghana, with backing from COCOBOD. Today it stands independently — a resilient, multi-funded institution that has transitioned from pioneer-led funding to diversified revenue streams.
