Ghana Shea Landscape Emission Reduction Project (GSLERP)

Scope of Project

GSLERP is a five year-project that seeks to restore and sustainably manage Shea Parklands by raising 5 community based-nursery of Shea and Non-Shea tree seedlings, strengthen value-chains for shea processing by establishing and training 20 shea women group cooperatives of at least 1000 women on group dynamics and cooperate governance implemented in the North East Gonja Districts in the Savanna Region.

Achievements

  1. Setup and  trained 3 women cooperatives  (shea collectors ) on group dynamics
  2. Trained 250 women and 120 men on shea parkland management
  3. Set up a tree nursery at Jantong Dashe
  4. Employed 10 women as nursery workers at Jantong Dashe
  5. Linked our women cooperatives to potential buyers
