Nursery Management @ Achubunyor Nursery, West Gonja Municipality – Savanna Region in November 2025

Status of Seedlings under GSLERP– Seedling Inventory (as at 19 Nov 2025)- Total potted and seeded 2025 cohort: 90,000 shea seeds. Emerged Seeds: 72,206 (emergence rate 80%) Alive at visit date: 53,206 (survival 73% of emerged; 80 % of original nuts) Matured seedlings (≥ 30 cm height): 16,655–9,500 already dispatched to 8 out-planting sites (transplant survival tracking in progress).
 7,155 still in hardening beds, ready for next season’s transplanting.   The nursery therefore holds 60,361 live seedlings, which is below the 2025 target of 100,000 seedlings.

Conclusion  Achubunyor nursery is operationally sound and on track to supply the 2026 planting season. With 60,361 healthy shea seedlings on hand and water infrastructure serviced, the site can sustain operations.

Recommendations Matured seeds should be procured early to beat-up the ungerminated pots when the shea is in season. Out-planting transport: no truck available; risk of seedling overstays in nursery.
