
On Thursday, June 19, 2025, Board Members of Shea Network Ghana (SNG) convened its second meeting of the year at the organization’s head office in Tamale. The meeting served as a formal platform for the Board to welcome the newly appointed Coordinator, Mr. Hafiz Muntaka Mohammed Imam, who officially assumed duty on June 5, 2025.
The session was chaired by the Board Chairman, Mr. Nicholas Amaame Apokerah, and attended board members to reflect on the leadership transition and reaffirm their collective commitment to the growth and strategic direction of the Network.
In his welcome remarks, Mr. Apokerah expressed the Board’s appreciation to the former Coordinator, Mr. James Kpenyog Dakora, for his dedicated service during his tenure. He further commended the transparent and smooth transition process, describing it as a testament to the maturity of SNG’s governance systems.
Mr. Hafiz Muntaka Mohammed Imam, in his brief remarks, thanked the Board for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to work diligently with both the Secretariat and partners to strengthen SNG’s impact in the shea sector. “I consider this not just a leadership role, but a call to serve a community that is central to women’s empowerment, environmental sustainability, and local economic development,” he stated.
Mr. Imam joins SNG with over two decades of leadership experience in peacebuilding, development programming, institutional partnerships, and organizational strengthening. His appointment has been met with high expectations from both members and partners across the country.
The meeting also discussed ongoing project activities, governance matters, and upcoming initiatives aimed at deepening SNG’s engagement with stakeholders and positioning the Network as a key player in the shea industry, both nationally and internationally.
The Board reiterated its full support for Mr. Imam and pledged to continue providing strategic oversight and guidance to ensure the sustainability and relevance of the Network’s work.
