SNG Appoints Hafiz Muntaka Mohammed Imam as New Coordinator

Shea Network Ghana (SNG) has officially appointed Mr. Hafiz Muntaka Mohammed Imam as its new Coordinator. His appointment took effect on June 5, 2025, following the end of tenure of Mr. James Kpenyog Dakora, who led the Network from October 2024 to June 2025.

Mr. Imam joins SNG with extensive experience in development leadership, peacebuilding, and institutional strengthening, making him a valuable asset in advancing the organization’s mission to promote sustainability and inclusivity in the shea sector.

Prior to joining SNG, he served as the Head of Programme Quality, Partnerships, and Institutional Development at Norsaac, where he led major programme portfolios, facilitated strategic fundraising, and managed consortium engagements. He also played a central role in compliance systems and institutional visibility.

His professional background includes leadership roles at Oxfam in Ghana, where he coordinated economic justice programmes and campaigns, and with WFP/FAO, overseeing national-level nutrition coordination. Earlier in his career, he was National Coordinator of WANEP-Ghana, where he pioneered Ghana’s first civil society-led early warning system and represented Ghana at regional peace and security platforms.

Mr. Imam holds a Master’s Degree in Development Studies from the University of Cape Coast, a CEMBA from KNUST, and is currently pursuing an MPhil in Peace and Development Studies. He also holds several certifications in climate change advocacy, project management, peace education, and community development.

As Coordinator, Mr. Imam is expected to lead SNG’s strategic direction, deepen partnerships, and enhance the Network’s impact on livelihoods, particularly for women in the shea value chain.
